In a remarkable display of determination and community spirit, ten dedicated HEJ FC parent volunteers embarked on the 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the club. Their incredible effort resulted in an impressive £3500 raised, which will go a long way in supporting HEJ FC’s activities and initiatives.
The Journey Begins
The adventure started with a 12 hour minibus drive from Milton Keynes to Fort William, the gateway to the first peak of the challenge, Ben Nevis. The long journey was filled with anticipation and camaraderie, as the group prepared themselves mentally and physically for the grueling task ahead.
Conquering Ben Nevis
Upon arrival, there was little time to waste. The challenge officially began at the base of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. Standing at 1,345 meters, Ben Nevis presented the first of many tough ascents. The team’s spirits were high, fueled by the purpose of their mission and the support from the HEJ FC community.
Scaling Scafell Pike
After conquering Ben Nevis, the team immediately traveled south to tackle Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England. Despite the physical toll of the previous climb and the fatigue setting in, the parents pushed through, motivated by their collective goal and the thought of the benefits their efforts would bring to the club.
Final Push: Mount Snowdon
The final leg of the challenge took them to Wales, where they faced Mount Snowdon. Exhausted but undeterred, the group pressed on, knowing they were close to completing the challenge. The ascent of Snowdon was the ultimate test of their endurance and resolve. As they reached the summit, there was a profound sense of achievement and relief.
Triumph and Celebration
With all three peaks conquered within 24 hours, the team returned home to Milton Keynes, greeted by cheers and applause from the HEJ FC community. The £3500 raised through their efforts is a testament to their dedication and the power of community support.
